E-commerce website development in Oman

We build online stores for Omani businesses that actually take orders: Omani payment gateways connected, delivery zones and cash-on-delivery configured for how customers here really buy, product catalogues in Arabic and English, and the back office linked to your inventory. A Shopify or WooCommerce store starts at OMR 495; a custom or headless build from OMR 2,450.

The difference between an online store that sells and one that sits there is rarely the design. It is whether checkout works with the payment methods Omani customers trust, whether delivery fees are right for Muscat versus the interior, and whether someone answers the WhatsApp message that arrives ten minutes after an order. The store is built around those three things.

Oman specifics

Selling online in Oman: what is different

Payments decide conversion. Omani shoppers convert far better when they see a gateway they recognise. Thawani is the one most people here trust; bank card gateways and cash on delivery cover the rest. A store showing only a foreign checkout loses orders at the last step.

Delivery is a Muscat question and an interior question. Same-day inside Muscat is expected; delivery to Sohar, Nizwa or Salalah needs honest timings and fees. Getting the zones right avoids the refunds and angry messages that kill a new store's reputation.

WhatsApp is part of the checkout. A large share of Omani customers will message before or after ordering. The store is built with a click-to-WhatsApp button on every product and order confirmations that go to WhatsApp as well as email.

Compliance is simple but real. VAT at 5% displayed correctly, a Commercial Registration number in the footer, and clear return terms. These take an hour to set up and remove most of the trust objections.

How it works

From first message to delivery

  1. Step 1

    Catalogue and flow

We map products, variants, delivery zones, payment methods and who handles orders. This decides the platform and the quote.

  2. Step 2

    Build and connect

Store design, product upload, gateway and courier connections, Arabic version if needed, pixels and feeds.

  3. Step 3

    Test with real orders

Live test transactions, refund flow, delivery fee checks and a staff walkthrough of the order screen.

  4. Step 4

    Launch and grow

Launch, then optional monthly work on ads, SEO, email and cart recovery to keep orders growing.

Questions

E-commerce websites in Oman: common questions

How much does an e-commerce website cost in Oman?
A Shopify or WooCommerce store with payments and delivery set up starts at OMR 495. Custom or headless commerce builds start at OMR 2,450 and multi-vendor marketplaces at OMR 3,750. Payment gateway integration is OMR 160 and product upload is OMR 3 per product. Prices exclude 5% VAT.
Which payment gateways work in Oman?
Thawani is the most widely used Omani gateway and the one customers recognise. Card gateways from local banks and international providers are also integrated, and cash on delivery is still important for first-time buyers. We recommend offering at least two options.
Shopify or WooCommerce for an Omani store?
Shopify if you want the least maintenance and the fastest launch, and can accept a monthly subscription. WooCommerce if you want lower running costs, full control and easier custom features. For most Omani retailers under a few thousand products either works; we will recommend one after seeing your catalogue.
Can the store be in Arabic and English?
Yes. Products, categories, checkout and emails can be fully bilingual with a language switcher. An Arabic right-to-left version adds OMR 190 to the build; translation is quoted per product or page.
Can you connect the store to our POS or accounting system?
Yes. POS and inventory sync starts at OMR 275, and we integrate with common ERP and accounting systems so stock and invoices stay in one place.
Do you also run the marketing for the store?
Yes. Most store clients add Meta, TikTok or Google Shopping ads, SEO and email or WhatsApp campaigns once the store is live. Each is priced separately on the digital marketing page.
